The "Gourmets" - with Moelleux of Bergerac 75 cl AOC
( Box )
The Côtes of Bergerac Moelleux (sweet) AOC is a wine that has become very well known. A few years ago this moelleux was considered a sub-Monbazillac. Now it has acquired it own status with our customers. It is made from the same variety of grapes as Monbazillac but in different proportions of Sémillion and Sauvignon. This moelleux is made using very mature grapes in order to create a very fruity and flavorsome wine. The delicacy of the flavors goes perfectly with Duck or goose Foie Gras perfecting these specialities.

Grown in a calcareous-clay and controlled region of origin, this wine is product in the Périgord "purple" so called because of the presence wine makers in this region of the Dordogne.
L’AOC is in South-West Périgord in the same locality of the AOC Bergerac.
The sun and lack of rain in September helps concentrate the flavors of the grapes and the moderate humidity in October helps develop the noble rot process that is key to the creation of sweet wines.
Pale yellow in color, its sweetness is round, subtle, and fresh in the mouth.
This Côtes de Bergerac is made from the same variety of grapes as Monbazillac but in different proportions (50% Sémillion and 50% Sauvignon).
This wine is particularly loved for its fruit aromas and its brilliant pale color that is unique to the Sémillion grape variety.
The main qualities of the Côtes de Bergerac Moelleux are their flavors of exotic fruits, such as lychees and passion fruit.
However the fact it is a lot less sugary than the Monbazillac for example allows it to be drunk with a wider variety of dishes.

The Côtes of Bergerac Moelleux can age but this has no bearing on the quality of the wine.
The younger it is the more it will be fresh and fruity, which are exactly the type of qualitys that we search for in this type of wine.
We can consider that the Côtes de Bergerac Moelleux is at the peak of these qualities when it is between 2-3 years old and it will keep without any problems for 5 years.
The Côtes de Bergerac Moelleux is very flexible and must be served between 7-9°C.
It can be served alone as an aperitif or with toasted rillette terrines or little pâtés such our "Country Terrine" or our Sauternes Duck Terrine.
It can also be served with Foie Gras stuffed quail or duck breast also stuffed with Foie Gras.
This marriage of a subtly sweet wine and authentic full bodied flavored produce from our region is a true delight.
